Welcome to The Blue Cross

The Blue Cross is a National Animal Welfare Charity that has its Headquarters based in Burford, Oxfordshire

As a Charity, which relies entirely on the donations of Supporters, we aim to achieve the following

	To foster the bond of friendship between animals and people
	Relieve the suffering of animals whose owners cannot afford the cost of veterinary treatment
	Promote animal welfare by educating, encouraging and extending responsible animal ownership
	Extend pet ownership by finding suitable homes for unwanted or abandoned animals
	Add to the quality of human life through the recognition of the value of companion animals to people of all ages

To achieve the above aims, we have since our establishment in 1897 developed a network of centres comprising of 3 fully equiped veterinary hospitals, 1 veterinary clinic, 11 adoption centres and 2 equine centres

At Burford, as well as the Head Office, we have an animal centre where cats and dogs requiring loving new homes are available for adoption and an equine centre where horses can be seen and "loaned" from the Blue Cross

The Blue Cross relies on donations which come from various sources including:

	Blue Cross Friends - Regular giving scheme
	Subscriptions - Pawprint Club for children and Blue Cross Illustrated Magazine
	Covenants - Tax efficient giving over a fixed period
	Legacies - Bequests which help Blue Cross meet the needs of animals in our care
