A warm welcome awaits you at Manor Farm, a comfortable stone built family farmhouse surrounded by the 850 acre working arable, beef and sheep farm that has been in the Lay family for over 100 years.
Situated in an unspoilt rural village, we are only 10/15 minutes away from Oxford, Abingdon & Didcot.
In addition, Swindon and major transport routes - such as the M4 (Newbury)
and the M40 are only half an hour away. Heathrow is just a 1 hour's drive.
We are ideally located for staying as a base whilst visiting the many attractions of Oxford, the Cotswolds & other surrounding towns, or for attending to business in the area.
THE FARM
The house is set in a large garden, which is surrounded by open fields grazed by horses, cattle and sheep. We grow wheat, barley and Oil Seed Rape. In addition, we have home-reared Aberdeen Angus cattle and a flock of breeding ewes (which lamb during April / May). We also provide a livery to 9 horses.
THE COUNTRYSIDE
We
are in a DEFRA environmental scheme aiming to encourage traditional flora,
fauna and wildlife to the countryside. To this end, we have erected numerous
owl boxes on the farm (barn owls are regularly sighted) and left grass margins
around the perimeters of many fields (amongst other things) - adding interest
to the walks which our visitors can enjoy.
THE ACCOMMODATION
We have two bedrooms, both decorated to a high standard, A double with private bathroom immediately adjacent and a large twin/double/family room with ensuite bathroom.
Both offer all the comforts of central heating, colour television/video and tea/coffee making facilities.
THE FOOD
We offer a traditional farmhouse breakfast using local produce where at all possible including eggs from our free range hens.
We will be pleased to recommend a variety of local pubs for lunch or evening meals. The closest of these is the White Hart, which is just 100 yards away.
