Local Attractions
- Island Farm Donkey Sanctuary,
located at Brightwell cum Sotwell, between Didcot & Wallingford
in Oxfordshire. The Sanctuary is open to the public and welcome
visitors - free of charge. With over 70
rescued donkeys plus many ponies and other rescued animals. Tel: 01491

- Saxon Walls - the best preserved Saxon fortifications open to view and walk on all year.
- Castle Gardens - Britain in Bloom small garden winner. Open daily all year (except Christmas) - ideal for a picnic.
- Wallingford Museum - listen to the story of Wallingford and the siege in 1646.
- Cholsey and Wallingford Railway - Steam trains to be seen and ridden most summer weekends.
- Benson Veteran Cycle Museum, 61 Brook St., Benson - Collection of 450 veteran cycles from 1818-1930.
- Cholsey A beautiful Norman church. Agatha Christie is buried in the churchyard.

Open: Daily 23rd March - 29th September, 19th - 27th October, 27th December - 1st January 2003. Weekends throughout the year: 10.00am - 5.00pm (10.00am - 4.00pm November - February).
Admission: £4.00 - £8.00 depending on the event (family ticket available).
Concessions: Reductions for children, over 60s etc.
Visitor Facilities: Car park, shop, refreshments, toilets, picnic area.

Recreating the golden age of the Great Western Railway with steam locomotives in the engine shed, signalling displays, Brunel's broad gauge railway, small relics display. Steamdays with
train rides first and last Sunday of each month, Bank Holidays, all Sundays July - August, all Wednesdays 17th July - 28th August, all Saturdays in August.
- Ewelme 500 year old alms-houses. The manor house was once the home of the Chaucer family and Jerome K Jerome (author of 'Three men in a boat') is buried in the churchyard.
- Greys Court, Rotherfield Greys, Henley-on-Thames
Rebuilt in the 16th century and added to in the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, the house is set amid the remains of the courtyard walls and towers of a 14th century fortified house. A Tudor
donkey wheel well-house and an ice-house are still intact, and the garden contains Archbishop's maze; inspired by Archbishop Runcie's enthronement speech in 1980.
- Nuffield Place between Wallingford & Nettelbed. Home of car magnate Lord Nuffield until his death in 1963.
- Pendon Museum of Miniature Landscape & Transport, Long Wittenham - Recreates in miniature the English countryside and railways of the 1930's

The museum building dates from the 14th century. The museum is in the grounds of the former Dorchester Abbey, which can be visited.
